Tackling Food Waste
Let’s be honest: food is expensive these days, and nobody can afford to throw it away. We all know that awful feeling of staring at a fridge full of random bits and bobs—or a veggie drawer slowly turning into science experiments—and having no clue what to make. At 5Loaves2Fish, we treat every single ingredient like gold. We hate food waste, which is why we’ve built our kitchen around making the absolute most of what we have. Thanks to intentional prep, creative batch-cooking, and composting whatever genuinely cannot hit the plate, our kitchen operates at an incredible 5% waste rate. Keeping waste that low isn’t just good kitchen sense; it’s how we turn surplus into full, comforting meals for our neighbors across Northern Michigan.

Keep a Freezer "Stock Bag"
